It probably sounds cliche and you’ve heard it a thousand times, but this time of your life will be over before you know it. I remember hearing it a ton and always kind of rolling my eyes when people told me the same thing. You are in one of those times of your lives where you can really take advantage of a lot of the people and resources around you. But what does God think about all of this? What does The Bible say about taking advantage of your youth?
Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:15-17 a little bit about it. He tells us to live wisely and to take advantage of every opportunity we have. Paul then says something that sounds a little scary when we read it. In verse 16 he says that “the days are evil.” Paul is trying to warn us that we need to live in a way that is good and holy and that most things and people around us won’t be following God. That’s why it’s so important to take advantage of the time and people in our lives that are trying to help lead us closer to God!
But what does living wisely mean? What does that look like for us? We’re told all throughout the Bible that the wisest thing we can do is to follow God. Afterall, He is the one that created literally the entire universe and everyone in it! The book of Proverbs is full of mentions of wisdom and how to obtain it, or even what it can look like! However, James writes about wisdom and what it can look like too. He tells us in James 3:13-16 that there are two different kinds of wisdom. The one we want to follow is the one from God that leads to humility. True wisdom comes from admitting that you need help, you don’t know everything, and that you have a lot to learn. The truth is, we all have areas that we could use help in!
It all seems like a lot, trust me I know! The best part is though, you don’t have to go through any of it alone! Not only will God always be there with you, but you have a lot of people around you who want to help too! Take advantage of the time you have now where you don’t have to worry about all of the stress that will come LATER in life, enjoy the time you have NOW and use it to help set you up! The stronger the foundation you build with God now, the better your life will continue to get and the closer you will be to Him and the wisdom that only He can provide!

- Write down the questions you have and next to each one, write who you think would be a good person to ask about it.
